League Cup 2024/25: Round 1 Draw Arrangements and Details

The draw for the first round of the League Cup will take place on Thursday  27 June at 11:30 on Sky Sports.

70 EFL clubs are entered into the draw, including Bromley for the first time in their history. Relegated Luton Town (who lost to Exeter in the second round last season) and Burnley don’t join until the second round, though relegated Sheffield United will be.

Competition format

There is no seeding in this draw, but clubs are divided in two regions as per below. Regionalisation will apply in round two as well.

Matches in all rounds are single-legged, with the exception of the semi-final ties.

In the event of scores being level at the end of ninety minutes’ duration in Rounds One, Two, Three, Four and Five, no extra time shall be played. The winners shall be determined by penalty kicks. Extra time will apply in the second leg of the semi-finals and Final if the result is level after ninety minutes’ duration. A period of 30 minutes will be played.

  • Semi Final 1st Leg – 07/08 January 2025
  • Semi Final 2nd Leg – 04/05 February 2025
  • Final – Sun 16 March 2025

*Split over two midweeks
