I didn't invade the pitch. I strolled through the gate that the stewards had helpfully opened. :) Got some nice pictures of the new stand from pitchside!

This is part of the issue John. Going to the footy nowadays for many fans (young AND old) is part enjoyment as you'd expect and part what can they capture on their phones. You see it regularly when a goal is scored or a penalty is being taken and there are simpletons behind the goals filming it instead of just being in that moment and enjoying fully the elation of that moment. How the hell anyone can truly lose themselves in celebration whilst holding a mobile aloft is beyond me and i'd go so far as to say it's impossible. It's a clear distraction from allowing oneself to be engulfed in what is happening at any given moment therefore that given moment cannot be fully and truly appreciated for what it is.

Also you have the issues that you've mentioned about people looking to get reactions from others so they can film the aftermath. In this case the Lincoln fans so not exclusively Exeter fans. It's a section of fans at every club that seem more preoccupied with documenting their away days for social media for example than just going out for the day and having a great time at the footy.

Taking pictures of stands is fine by me Hants. Perfectly normal behaviour. ;)

Filming penalties isn't.

Someone give Grandad his cocoa and carpet slippers. Jeez!
That can wait until I'm a Grandad, but thanks.

What's the net result of the pitch invasion ? Elderly and young allegedly assaulted, potentially a club fine, an official investigation in an already busy week for the club in its preps before Wembley.

Smart move by the posturing few who we know wouldn't ever attempt to 'put Lincoln in their place' at Sincil Bank.

Do we celebrate winning a semi-final now? As a one-off Oxford was a very special night but we went up the next season when at Torquay the players got off the pitch as quickly as they could, knowing that was only half a job done.

We didn't invade the pitch at Oxford did we? Spent an age in the stand dancing like loons before being threatened by Blackbird Leys finest young scallywags in the car park after.

Any EFL fine has to be paid. Money spent on a fine is money not available to spend elsewhere.
Get a life FFS. Football isn’t just about numbers, polished social media profiles and 3G pitches. It’s exists for the fans, is an emotional game - and for those who aren’t completely miserable/sanctimonious/stamp collectors - a pitch invasion is a decent show of passion.

No doubt you’ll retort with some dull paragraphs, so I’ll just leave it that.

Yep, every club in my experience celebrates in this way when they’ve won a semi final playoff tie which doubles as the last home game of the season.

I've no issue with a pitch invasion it's the acting the ******* when guarded by a load of stewards that's the issue. We seem to have a minority of people who think they can do what they want and then cry when people have a pop back at them.

Enjoy yourselves but don't act the ****.

Aren't you the one.

Had a great first season back have the Imps, generally decent, friendly support and there's many parallels to our own community club/city. Final game of the season for them, it'd been nice for the team to have been allowed the opportunity to thank the faithful who'd made the 500 mile midweek round trip, but no, instead they were put firmly 'in their place' by those who felt the need to invade the pitch to celebrate another day trip to Wembley. We've yet to win feck all, not least any respect.
That’s your assessment, mine is different. You might want to paint me as an in intelligent or below your status but I love the club and City and see the pitch invasion as pretty much standard practice. You support a lower league club for god’s sake -these moments are what it’s all about. Just because it’s not what you’d do, doesn’t make in anarchic. I’m sorry you feel like your system is threatened.

Also - as a point here - I personally didn’t even go on the pitch. Each to their own. Mad man Hants on the other hand ;)
