That was a hard fought draw and probably the right result, First half was very cagey and both teams didn't look like they were going to score, Second half we lost our way and Moneyfields deserved to go ahead, It took a while for us to stepup but when we did we equalised, Had a couple of dodgy moments when defending corners (Sound Familier?) where they hit the crossbar but 1-1 was a fair result, Listening to others there Moneyfields got promoted without losing a single game last season and if true they look like stepping up isn't going to cause them a problem, Not a bad game in the end but very few chances for either side.

5-1 winners at home to St Austell tonight puts us top of the league, albeit teams below us have a game in hand.

Anyone know why Maidenhead haven't kicked a ball yet?

An enjoyable game tonight under the floodlights.
The crowd looked bigger than the last game filling up the length of the pitch.

A nervy first half with St Austell taking the lead and then being well disciplined to frustrate City.
However, City had so much possession that it always seemed a matter of time until the breakthrough came and a turnaround might follow.

It's easy to get nervy when you're behind and City were snatching at the chances they were creating after good build up play.
A half time talk and break worked wonders and City came back out with more confidence in themselves from the start of the second half.

2 goals turned the game around and the well taken penalty made it comfortable at 3-1.
Zoe Watkins had a tremendous long range effort against the bar.

With so much time out of possession and their hard work in the first half tiredness came into play for St Austell and City were getting half a yard more to play in during the second half.

City's game when it gels is really good and with that second or so to make the pass they were moving the ball well.

Jess Sandiland's goal to make it 4-1 was a thing of beauty.
She picked up the loose ball from a previously saved effort and couldn't have placed the ball any better.

The 5th goal was a goalmouth bundle through a crowd of players.

I had a chat with a couple of St Austell supporters and they've had a tough start with Bournemouth, Cardiff and City as their first three fixtures.
They had a good shape to them and worked hard to hold City at bay in the first half.
Their keeper made some impressive stops and had a better game than the score-line might suggest.

If you haven't seen City Women play yet this season - I recommend it.

Looking at their twitter feed - they were advertising for a first team manager a week ago and also encouraging enquiries from players so they may be short staffed.
Other than that it seems positive and they are looking forward to games at this level.

Now that they play in Exeter does it open the possibility of 'double-headers' with the men's team? Maybe only for the more local opposition though. An 11.30 KO would allow people to watch and have their pre-match beers down there.

There are two games planned for SJP this season - each one on a Sunday following a Saturday game.
