It did...I remember there were 6 of us doing gas boiler replacements on a council estate at Exmouth in 1984, without fail we stopped for the Simon Bates ‘Our Tune’.
Which estate? There's only 3! Needless to say grew in the shittest one.

Burnside off Wthycombe Rd, Green Close off Moorfields Rd,OAP bungalows in both those places. Also up around Capel Lane & Mount Close,Littleham which were single storey flats.
Sold the scrap from the old boilers on the Friday then spent the afternoon in the Exmouth Arms on that bounty. Great days 😁

With names like those, I'd certainly remember them, so no I didn't.

30th September 1979.

A new drama series on BBC1. Shoestring had no opposition on TV, due to the ongoing ITV Strike thus having mega viewing figures for the first few episodes.
Set in Bristol, which was a bit of a novelty in those days. Ran for two series(21 episodes)

Ah one of my favourite programs growing up as a lad.

Manage to catch their series of repeats once, mind you, that was probably 20 years ago now.

The episode with the exploding scalectrix cars at xmas particularly springs to mind.

Also, it's funny they show an advert there for a raincoat for a snip at £21. One Pound more than you can get them now on Amazon. "No Middle Man's Profits" ?!?! lolz

Shoestring was an excellent series. Good theme music, as I recall.
Episodes are available on YouTube.
