Hindsight is a great thing but letting Ray go was confusing. Had some L1 experience, seemed well liked by the squad, and was one of the more fit CBs we had. Would have played many games this season…
Didn't we let him go because we needed to get a striker in?

Ray had slipped to third choice number 5. He was apparently a top earner. We also had Alfie Pond coming through. Fully understandable decision - though, as things have panned out, he would have got loads of game time and more importantly Josh Key would have been playing at wing back not central defence.

Wages would be a problem. As a player who joined a Championship club for £1.2m (apparently) Joel will be on (in ECFC terms) megabucks.
I'm sure we could do a deal. We won't be paying all of Jay's wages will we??

How many times have I heard people moaning on here about getting very injury prone players in on here and you're advocating getting one in??

No, I didn't. Re-read the post. Somebody else suggested (in post 9095) getting Joel in on loan and I pointed out that wages would be a problem. I didn't advocate bringing Joel in, I pointed out one of the problems in doing so.

Here’s an obscure one. Watching Beaconsfield Town v Met Police in Southern League Premier South (Tivvy’s Division) tonight and noticed Myles Anderson in the home line up. Not a great night for him. He got injured giving away a penalty late in the first half and was substituted on 49 minutes. The game ended 2-2.
