Exeter 1-0 Southend 2003 is my first vivid memory at SJP. The Charlton FA cup game is also a strong memory from that year, but I would have been going from 2000 onwards.
That sinking feeling of relegation just stuck with me and replaced all memories before then I guess.
Glenn Cronin was...
By that logic we should never signed Caldwell after his awful record before us. Sometimes managers find the right fit for them and sometimes it doesn't work out.
How many young and upcoming managers applied for the role that we never heard about? Its too simplistic to just say the alternatives...
Love this, yes it’s against 10 men but should build confidence going forward.
Nice to see us putting someone to the sword again, hopefully it’ll give GC confidence to let them play this way from the outset of games.
Some stupid challenges so far, don’t give him the chance to give out another red.
At least make the advantage count beforehand, we look devoid of ideas again.
It's genuine madness. His Wigan side had an embarrassment of riches, and whilst that takes nothing away from his achievement, it will never relate to the standard of player we are able to sign.
He has had years of failure and seemingly keeps pushing the same style and tactics week in week out...
Agreed, I think it is is a bit much to suggest he isn't interested at all. I do think there may be a point that he has narrowed the pathways by signing a fair amount of bang average professionals who occupy spots that would have be left for young pros.
For instance, signing a player like Watts...
He was hailed as the messiah by the management team to try and spare their blushes for the summer recruitment, only need to look as far as them to see where the unrealistic expectations have been placed on an 18 year old loanee.
Hasn't it been a trait of Caldwell's managerial downward spiral to...
Is anyone surprised by the toxicity at SJP?
The majority of the fanbase had already given up on Caldwell, a few wins won’t change that. It’s going to be the same for the rest of the season because the football served up is p*ss poor.
Should have acted ages ago and now we’re stuck in a weird...
Maybe the best of those who applied, maybe. Did we look at anyone currently employed, currently doing a good job elsewhere? Did we look at in work coaches we might be able to tempt down here. The recruitment process felt limited, which is probably why we've ended up with a very limited manager...
They are to most, not when you're as bad a home as us though  No I'd be happy to take a point today, we've put ourselves in a good position and just need the points to keeping ticking along now.
Managers also like to ignore it until they lose, then they wax lyrical about someone like Blackpool being a champions league team at home and we're lucky to share the pitch with them.
I think we'll do alright today, bring back a point and on to the next.
