Perhaps Tavy could confirm- we're the fifth or sixth largest economy in the world? I'm never quite sure which.

Anyway, so glad to hear we put all that wealth to good use...

BBC News - Awaab Ishak: Mould in flat caused boy's death, coroner rules
By highlighting this tragedy you flag up the issues surrounding too much unskilled migration, we simply can’t cope. One hopes that others wishing to rock up to these shores are aware that this isn’t the land of milk and honey they perhaps think it is.

Has anyone ever told you that you remind them of a young Ted Tuckerman?

Astonishing. "We can't cope". That us to say we, one of the richest countries in the world, can't provide social housing that is fit for human habitation. Who ends up living in these houses and the reasons for their being there is entirely irrelevant.

It's not a question of can't, but of won't. A simple question of political priorities.

Maybe.
India has a bigger economy than the UK but owing to its large and growing population you wouldn’t think it to look at the lifestyles of the average Brit in comparison to the average Indian.
You favour increased unskilled migration into the UK, this case in many ways is the result.
Rumour has it Sunak is considering scrapping the blanket cap on council tax bills in the budget, that might be the opportunity for Labour councils like Rochdale to start squeezing more money out of its ratepayers to sort out its sh1te social housing.

Import low wage labour to pay for economically inactive or part time locals on in work benefits.

Never mind Rochdale, how, exactly, do you think things are going in Devon?!

one biggest thing Governments can do to help councils is to move social care budgets away from councils and move it to a centrally funded model.

Not sure how you contrived to miss this but the last-but-two PM delivered on his promise to 'fix social care'. He told us so himself. 🤣
Speaking outside No 10 Downing Street for the last time on Tuesday morning, Mr Johnson listed his achievements in office. He said his government had succeeded in “delivering Brexit, delivering our manifesto commitments, including by the way, including social care, reforming social care.”
