It's a bad day for Johnsons. Former Ipswich, Liverpool, Everton and England striker David Johnson

My memory is really hazy, but I think I went to see him and his band play the George Robey, Finsbury Park, back in around 1991.

Hazy because I had no idea who he was, just went along with some friends due for their birthday night out.

Anyway, an amazing story his fight with cancer. Not many survive pancreatic cancer, and he did, giving him an extra ten years.

Sad day. Roadied for him at a gig in Bradford in the seventies. Seen him many times since sometimes at the tiniest venues, always did that machine gun walk though, amazing!

Back with Lee Brilleux now

I've got his collaboration album with Roger Daltrey which is well worth a listen. He recorded it at a time when he was told he had 9/10 months to live but a successful operation gave him these extra years. You could never tell what was plugged in to the mains, the guitar or Wilko himself.

They couldn't decide what to call that album. The choice was Roger, Wilko and Out or Dr Who!

A sad day for Rugby & everyone who has got to know Doddie through his campaign to fundraise for a cure for MND.

Like a close friend of mine - such a devastating disease to suffer or witness when there is very little that you can do to help apart from raise £ in the hope it leads to prevention / cure.
RIP Doddie - a brave man on many fronts who was taken too soon.
