Unsurprisingly King Coal is back.
Imports of thermal coal for the last 3 Coal Fired Power Stations on the grid have doubled in 2022. Stockpiled just in case of the expected squeeze on generation in the coming months that will inevitably mean more use than would usually be planned.

Imported mainly from the US & for the first time Mozambique ! which is now the 2nd largest exporter of coal to the UK
And we've got hundreds of years' worth of coal under our ground.

Bulb Energy bailout has cost the taxpayers £4000 per customer so far,£6.4bn & rising.

Failed energy suppliers have added another £230 to every household bill.

A absolute scandal, that was buried in the small print of the Autumn Statement.
Sorry, but I always paid my bills by DD. Ended up £700 in credit. So not me guv.

Nice one Isca 😁

My point really was that a company that expanded exponentially hugely over 5 years was allowed to operate in such a fashion. Lost many £m’s each year, did not hedge properly, was too big to go bust, then was bailed out by the Taxpayer. In most other countries the people behind that type of scenario inc the regulators* would be in court explaining their actions.

* We has the same sort of issue with banks a few years back. No one seems accountable for their reckless actions & flawed business model.

Pah! Is that all? :p

Thanks to frugality bordering on hypothermia we are currently £850 in credit and, with a 12 month price fixed until March 2023 we should be able to just about see winter out without absolute penury - assuming that Octopus don't go phut of course.

I was on a DD which overpaid how much Bulb thought our energy usage would be. I was thinking about asking for some money back at Easter but Putin put paid to that, s I just let it ride. I now have a DD £60 a month less than before.
