Premier League gets its way again then.
So we will never again experience some of the brilliant FA Cup replays like we had in the past. Leicester and Newcastle in 1981, Manchester United in 2005 and going to Anfield (still fuming...)

I don't understand why the PL clubs just don’t opt out of the EFL Cup if they want to play less games.

No, but had they all gone straight to penalties we might well have won those first games.

Indeed.

And presents it as "strengthening" the competition. Horseshite.

As usual the PL get their way. Maybe the draw for the Third Round only should seed the PL teams away from home and so cannot play each other. This might have financial implications for clubs wanting a PL club away, but must be better than where it stands at the moment.

Another sad day for the oldest cup competition in the world.

With the sale of tv rights to TNT earlier in the year (FTA Coverage Yet to be confirmed) and now this. Just a sad moment

I wonder if they wanted to change this before the new regulator comes in to force. I wonder of there will be other changes implemented quickly as well?
