Barnsley (H) Sat Jan 7th Postponed (Moved to Midweek)

And a replay on Tuesday 17th. A Tuesday in March seems more sensible, but we all know the EFL put pressure on clubs to rearrange games as soon as possible after the postponement. So my forecast is Tuesday 24th January.

    Gary's January Transfer Window

Justin Quick told the AGM that rumoured figure is unfortunately not correct, it's around £35K for a home L1 game normally. We also got £1.5M from business insurance (Covid) and will get a good boost from the higher-than-budget gates, IIRC we budgeted for an average of 5,500 and are running at...

This is indeed a shame, though to be honest I haven't been in for some years as my mates and I prefer the Bowling Green after evening games. Popular Exeter pub St Anne's Well to close due to cost of living crisis - Devon Live

    Former Players

From the local paper's report Alfie Pond 7 Pond possesses an imposing frame for an 18-year-old and steamrolled more than one United forward. He was dominant in the air and defended well alongside Tipton.

    Chris Woolcott

Agree 100%. Chris was an exemplar of the good that football brings out in people and the hours and hours that are put in by many behind the scenes. The things that we have in common should be much greater than those that divide us. I never join in the hatred of opposing teams or fans, even...

Trust Forum - Tues 22 November

I remember Tis once telling me that a large part of any football manager's job is understanding the personalities of players; like the rest of us they are often very varied characters and need different man-management approaches, both on and off the pitch. Some need constant reassurance; others...

Gradually getting better, of course. Now two decent stands and two crap ones, but bloody expensive.

As explained elsewhere, it didn't. It cost £15M at 2003-5 prices for the original 8,000 capacity. To get to 15,000 you are talking at least double that at 2022 prices.

Exeter City vs Ipswich Town match day thread

That £15M figure dates from almost 20 years ago and for then the-capacity of 8,000 (built early 2000s, opened 2006). At least double that for now. Plus as you say they have spent millions more doubling the capacity. I'd say building a 12,000 capacity stadium now would cost well north of £30M...

Exeter City vs Ipswich Town match day thread

To paraphrase again what Justin Quick told the Trust AGM, the Club recognise that if we are to regualarly have crowds of 6,500 plus the Club need to invest in staff and infrastructure to support those numbers. They are clearly not there yet. It is however difficult logistically in that people...

Scott Brown joins as player GK coach

I was joking. But as Rosencrantz says, if Blackman was injured during the game next Saturday it would be serious.

Scott Brown joins as player GK coach

Unless he has formally retired, Scott Brown is presumably still registered as a player with us. So he could come back and sit on the bench next Saturday?

Coaches, managers and fans, all hypocrites. Foul against us: "referee, clear foul, get your card out" Foul by us: "come on, play on, it's a man's game"

    Playing budget

Good, but the point is presumably that many (most?) fans don't know about this and a well-managed and communicated system would pay dividends?

    Playing budget

Yes. There will doubtless be a good few empty seats, especially with the early KO; some will pass their ticket on to a family member or friend but not all. Justin Quick mentioned at the Trust AGM that the Club are trying to develop a facility (which I know some PL clubs like Arsenal and others...

    Playing budget

Yes, but over pessimistic, surely? Leeds. West Ham. Villa. Expect all would get over 20K. I'd say even Leicester, Brighton, Palace, Wolves would be 20K ish. And ideally a replay at SJP with TV.

Scott Brown joins as player GK coach

That's fine while Lee is mainly on the bench, but the dilemma is that if he starts for the first team 5 times (excluding Papa Johns) we then won't be able to bring in an experienced loan keeper if Blackman gets injured. IMO we do ideally want an experienced backup keeper, but as has been said...

Thanks, as expected. I'd guess that reduces capacity to well below 8,000.
