This weekend seven years ago we were in an even worse league position than we are now. On the evening of Sat 19 November 2016 City
- were bottom of League Two
- had failed to win a single league home game that season (and had only won 2 home league games throughout 10+ months of 2016)...
A bit early for this thread perhaps, but I'm shortly off on a scouting mission to see next Saturday's opponents Fleetwood in action today in the FA Cup away to Kidderminster Harriers.
(best result for ECFC? a draw and the distraction of a. replay after a tasty 2nd round tie in the draw?)
So no game for City this weekend. The club are rightly bigging up the non league alternatives and the 4th qualifying round of the FACup. Some interesting games there!

I predict that I will be at Kidderminster Harriers...
4th qualifying round draw later this afternoon. With the full list of potential first round opponents for ECFC.
The likes of Torquay. Weston super Mare , Bath and Yeovil have made it through the second and third qualifying rounds and now will be joined by the big boys of the National League...
The line up based only on players already contracted for next season could be
Woods/Lee
Sweeney Aimson Hartridge
Caprice Kite Borges Mitchell
Coley
Nombe Cox
Subs Lee/Woods Diabate James King Billington Beardmore Scott
In reserve/out on loan - O'Connor
That XI doesn't look as weak as it...

Wow! This is a tricky month again.
Academy graduates to the fore. Six out of these excellent 8 goals are scored by four different academy graduates. And the other two goals (Nombe) had huge assists from respectively Key and Stansfield.
Our record this season on the Saturday which is the third league fixture in a week is appalling.
Our results are 3 losses all at home Cheltenham 0-1 Burton 0-2 and Oxford 2-4.
Contrast the weeks when we play a Papa Johns game midweek and rotate. On the following Saturday we have won all 3...
City to put out their 'weakest ever' side in this competition, according to Matt Taylor (soon to be City's former manager:().
With nine games in October, including every Tuesday, and an injury crisis, obviously we don't want to risk players who are at risk of injury/overload.
Competition rules...
Apologies for a new thread or if someone has already posted this, but GoTM for Aug is really tricky , with loads of strong contenders
https://www.exetercityfc.co.uk/news/2022/september/gotm-aug-22/
Who will be Dan Green's replacement? Vital role as MT's right hand man. Less to do on the U23s as we aren't allowed in the Premier League U23s this year.
Interviews were IIRC listed for a fortnight ago. Dan leaves early next month.
Someone to set up from amongst those coaching in the academy...
A number of loans out already...
Joe O'Connor and Aamir Daniels to Tavistock
Ed James to Saltash
Jack Arthur to Larkhall Athletic
Looking forward to those excellent updates on the matches played by our loaned out players!
Switched to Friday evening. Another one to watch on ifollow! I suspect this will further diminish the away attendance. Getting back from Morecambe at 10pm at night is not going to be easy for many people!

No build up thread yet?
Looks like the heart is being ripped out of our team with Nombe,Dieng now Hartridge and Sweeney out. With Covid about predicting the line up will be tricky....Covid tests before the squad set off tomorrow.
Any body know if a Covid pass is needed for spectator entry...
If we threw everything at the U23 team we could put out a really strong line up - eligible as U23s would be
Lee
Key Stubbs Hartridge Sparkes
Taylor Kite Collins
Coley Nombe Edwards
and that against a best 23 and over team would be a good game - who would win?. 23 and over team...
Dawson...
Five years ago this weekend......City played Carlisle, lost away narrowly to two late goals and went bottom of the table.
Since then we have had
a fantastic run in the rest of that season, clinching a play off place with a game to spare after a run of W16 D7 L6 to the end of the season
for...
So this is a game we really need a result to maximise chances of qualification.
However, its more about giving game time to those who need it.
So the starting eleven to include Amond Grounds Daniel and Rowe , plus game time for Collins and Kite (and Edwards if recovered). Beyond that I've no...

Diabate and Johnson both start for Truro who draw 1-1 after conceding a late equaliser 'due to a defensive lapse'. Johnson subbed off on 68 minutes, Diabate played the full 95.
