Barton mouthing off in the Bristol Post about how he had verbals with our bench
and said he would buy the club and put them all out of a job,
saying we’re a fan owned club and he’s wealthy.

Also said Exeter is miles from anywhere and s*** location for young footballers.
Utter T*** hope we stuff them out of sight.

Unbelievable...So disrespectful even if he says it wasn't, well it is Barton Tw*t of the first order. Odious man.
Bad blood but respect – Joey Barton, his rivalry with Exeter City and a cheeky bid for Grecians - Bristol Live (bristolpost.co.uk)

He does on occasion also speak some sense..

"They are superb on the second balls. They don’t overcomplicate it. They start most of their attacks, as Forest Green found out on Saturday, from you trying to play in your half.

They’re a very good team when they’re in your half. They’re nowhere near as effective when they’re forced to defend their own half, as we can attest to from playing them, so it’s going to be a battle for supremacy, which team can play in the other team’s half for a majority of the game?

For us, it’s slightly different to what we’ll do in terms of we want to dominate the ball and possession, but with the components we’ve got in the team at the moment and the strength of Exeter, we feel it would be playing to our weaknesses and into their strengths.

We’ve got a game plan and we feel like we can really effect it and when the whistle goes on Saturday we’ll find out. We’ve got a big away following and we want to give them something to cheer."

Selective quoting doesn't exactly paint the picture of what he said.

"You can imagine Exeter is not the most desirable location for a young footballer because it’s the a*** end of the country," Barton explained. "It’s miles away from everywhere, so logistically to do what they do and consistently produce their own players into the team and a revenue stream, I think a lot of clubs should look at Exeter and see it as a well-run business model.

Crazy mixed up article, some good points , some bad. Just what you’d expect from a crazy mixed up man.

Maybe so but none of the other ninety managers would
speak about another club like that idiot.

Half of what he said makes sense and the other half is complete balls. Whilst the management teams might not like each other ( not like Joey Barton? Surely not!), as a fan, I've never felt much either way about Rovers. Localish, but not local; another smallish, city club. He obviously thinks Bristol is more important than Exeter, whereas I see them both a nice, smaller cities. He's probably trying to create enmity to motivate his team and fans.
Just play your normal game against them, City, and remind Barton that talk is cheap. That means a four or five goal thrashing.
