A couple of photos from our memorable 3-1 win against Charlton Athletic at the Valley ten years ago (as mentioned in the 'on this day' thread). That's an awful lot of soon-to-be-disappointed Addicks!

Fantastic day out, one of my favourites over the years, always will be. Full house at The Valley, cheap tickets If I recall? Was it a fiver each? 1k+ Of us reds in attendance. Outstanding performance played them off the park and won 3-1.

Proper London away day too. Early train in on the Waterloo line out of Central station, few beers, fry up, Flying Scotsman (If you know you know) flipping brilliant football, and few more beers in London afterwards before heading home! - Done regularly on trips to the capital watching city, however the football is not always flipping brilliant like it was that day mind, and “the Scotsman“ is no longer in business. But none the less the whole day out to London on the train to watch our team with friends and a few beers is always a occasion I look out for on fixture release day and book in advance, Cant wait to have them back!

They say every picture tells a story great memories, superb!

I had forgotten that Leighton Phillips was signed by Brian Godfrey in March 1983 as the Grecians strove to avoid relegation from Division Three.
I was reminded by a photo on FB.
Phillips had a good career with Cardiff,Aston Villa in the 1st Division & was a major part of John Toshacks Swansea side that was promoted from Division Three to One in 3 seasons.
58 Welsh Caps in a good Welsh side in the 1970s.

Pic looks like it was taken at Orient 30/4/83.Nick Marker is also in the photo.
I’m trying to remember what colour the away shirt was back then.Was it yellow ?
Phillips left the Grecians at the end of the season.

Yellow I think, Orient is a good call, I could ask Tom who is scanning these! They are quality photos, we have thousands! And they are now safe! Once scanned we will decide what to do with them!
