I can't think of many players who had the referee write a piece in their testimonial game programme, but Roger Milford's piece for Nev's always sticks in the mind. All about his expert penalty winning technique and Roger's inability not to award it

I remember a game when Nevs went down in the area(he did it a few times in every game) He looked at Milford, arms out spread after he’d picked himself up. Milford had a huge grin on his face & his hands theatrically behind his back.

I remember Mark Cooper trying to con the ref & win a Penalty, he was not as good at it as Nevs, picking up a booking for his trouble. The chant from the Cowshed was “You’re worse than Stevie Neville” Cooper & some of the players who knew Nevs were laughing.
