Vic Marks pays tribute.

What a lovely tribute and the picture of the guard of honour is great too. (y)

Nice proper shots in the main as well from what I saw. Only Stokes getting a bit funky when he came in with a ramp for four off the last ball. Harry Brook looks a real talent. Flat pitch and (very) indifferent bowling yes. But as Kumar Sangakkara said, he had plenty of those conditions in his Test career and didn't get 500 in a day.

That is one of the great Test Matches and greatest Test Match wins for England. Whatever happens from here on in, Ben Stokes and Brendan McCullum must be applauded for this style and the bravery to attempt to win Tests. That is an incredible amount of runs to have in a Test Match and still have a positive result.

Amazing match - I think it is a new record for total runs scored in a test
Just shows what a change in mindset can achieve.
Who needs the Hundred with proper cricket entertainment like this

Quite a masterstroke (although quite logical really) bringing on Somerset's own Spinner Leach given the dimpsy light. Handing Jimmy the ball, or any bowler who could fling a pie with any semblance of pace, would almost certainly have provoked "stumps".

After all of his first innings toiling and twirling how fitting that "our Jack" clinched the decisive wicket.

Elsewhere, there's likely to be a new addition to the "players who played Tests for two teams" list, as Gary Ballance, released by Yorkshire the other day, has returned to his native Zimbabwe to play domestic and international Cricket.

I read yesterday that he was leaving Yaarkshire but not to pay in County cricket. This explains it.
