Why are we discussing Oxford City Vs Parkway on the Ipswich match day thread?

Ref watch. I thought as the game progressed he started giving Ipswich the debatable decisions, he obviously missed some howlers and then clamped down on the inevitable game management.

On a positive note, I'm sure many of us would have taken a draw against both Posh & Ipswich, so in that respect we're a point better off! Also, on that performance, any manager looking in (aprt from Matt T) isn't exactly going to be chomping at the bit to sign any of our players in January!

Guess you've read it all.

Best team won. Don't think it was any individual dominance from Ipswich, they just managed the game better. Let us play it around in defence without causing too much trouble, channel our attacks up the wings where they'd usually fizzle out. We also played deep and hung back rather try and pin them back. So it became the midfield battle we expected.
Ipswich proved better at breaking up our fragile and out of position defence and had many more chances than we did, Blackman kept us in that game.
Think Nombe should have started if only to give us some body who could hold the ball up for us. Brown was put of position and Stanno was outmuscled, neither could find any space to work in.

Good news Cheik seems to have got through 15 mins of football and we haven't done Argyle any favours this afternoon!

Some decisions could have gone our way, not sure about the penalty but I was upset that a blatant corner to us was over ruled and the resultant goal kick lead to a corner to them and their second goal. That's football I suppose.
Do think that if we'd started quicker, with our No1 forward line we may have shaken them out of the belief that this was just going to be a routine win for them.

Not much to analyse from that. Blackman excellent, Sparks very poor and Ipswich given way too much respect. GC in his post matcher said we didnt press well but if GC asked our front two to allow their Centre half's the freedom to play as they wanted before any pressing was instigated then the Manager has to accept responsibility on that one. If we are to stand a chance of competing we have to chase and harry everything and make life uncomfortable for the best teams.

A curious silence fell over the stadium a couple of times. What the hell was that all about ??

It was a really disappointing performance. We didn't look up for it from the off. Ipswich executed their plan perfectly, kept their shape so well when out of posession, waited for us to make a mistake or simply run out of ideas and bided their time until they scored.

They were better than us. Simples.
