Thanks Tom, very interesting.

1985-86. The highest league attendance at SJP 2,868 against Port Vale, even more remarkable because Torquay were in the same division.
Torquay at home was 2,420!!!

In RaWZ we trust....Amen.
Hmm that does sound strange, leave it with me and i’ll see if that is correct.
It’s correct Tom, iirc the Torquay game in the xmas holiday period was P-P, rearranged for a mid week in March, with less than 2,500 attending.
They were not great days for both clubs. The game at Plainmoor had a similar dismal crowd.

Strangely enough Olds it is indeed true.

The PV game was the opening game of the season (we won 1-0) but from there on it was all downhill -on and off the pitch!

If it's any consolation the attendance for the Turkeys was the second highest of the season - a mahoosive 2,420!

Makes you realise how far we've come. At the moment even beating those halcyon days of the earlier 80s (cup run notwithstanding) or even the record-equalling 8th in the third tier under Tisdale. Long may it continue!!!

PS: "Sneaky" edit there Tom. Makes it appear you beat us to it! 🤣

According to 11v11 the attendance versus Torquay on 26/03/1986 was 4,327.

EDIT...fat fingers. That was the game the following season.

About time, some of the turnouts in the away end have been shocking so far.
I wouldn't agree that away numbers have been shocking. Around 400 from Peterborough and Port Vale was decent as was over 750 from Oxford (at the time not in great form). With the exception Of the Gas would we really expect many from Fleetwood, Burton, MK Dons, or Wycombe? Cheltenham was a poor turnout but we had just spanked them! The numbers have still been higher than similar clubs in league two
