Nothing we can do about it. Just need to keep demonstrating the value we can provide local talent through maintaining a good percentage of homegrown players in our squads moving forward.
Which in theory is great but there's only so much schooling our lads to be proper chaps compared to the money the green will be able to throw at young players and we'll be outplayed in regards to getting players through let's be honest if this project goes ahead we'll massively struggle, and the whole club ethos could be in danger not trying to be pessimistic about it or doom and gloom but it's a fact we won't be able to compete if this plan goes ahead with the green.

Sounds defeatist to me. Evolution is key. Don't underestimate reputation.

A lot of lads are signed up before they are 10. It's a fair commitment, training a couple of times a week and then matches at weekends. A lot of our best players have come from east of Exeter ( Archie from Bridgewater for example ) and to add on an extra 80 miles to the round trip 3 times a week is 240 miles more. For a lot of families that's a deal breaker. At youth level there are a huge amount of talented youngsters out there, far more than there are places available. Having an indoor pitch is the main difference. The quality of the coaching is the most important part of any youth scheme and we are still very well placed on that score. We are also well ahead of Argyle for giving young players a chance in the first team, or at least getting them out on loan. The recent "crisis " of the under 18's not finishing in the top half of the table is because of the amount we have out loan. Getting them ready by playing men's football. Also Argyle, because they will always have bigger gates than us, will always be more likely to bring in the finished article. Why would you travel all that way for 6 or 7 years to then be released? As long as we give young players the best coaching we can we will be fine. Finally, our fantastic new facilities are now up and running, how long will it be before things are ready down the road? We don't have anything to worry about.

I think there's good value in having a greater number of good quality youth players coming through Devon clubs in general. Probably not a popular opinion or an easy one to accept, but during the periods when Ar**le are playing in a higher division than us we're likely to benefit from a few who don't quite make the grade there.

Healthy competition. Good for Devon football.

I suspect a lot of people will come on saying that we shouldn't hate Argyle, they are not our real rivals and we should applaud their successes. Just like to put on record that I am not in that camp, I hate the w@nkers and always will.

Sorry.
