The world watches as the army carries a live 500kg Nazi bomb through the streets of Plymouth. If it explodes, it could do irreparable improvment.

Reminds me of my college days in Brighton. The Police Station was next door and the prominently displayed sign at the entrance to their car park read "POLICE ONLY". Of course the first two letters were often removed.
Meanwhile up in Watford, the Old Bill had the name of the road next to their station changed by the Council, from Pig Lane ! A friend of mine even sent a photograph of the street sign into Private Eye for publication, but he never received the £5 quid that he was due ! :(

On the matter of messing with signs, this one on the carriages in the days of steam was often changed to

Also.

In the days when cinemas used to show their film titles using letters hung on horizontal rods it wasn't unusual for wags to move the 'L' and the 'I' closer together when a Clint Eastwood movie was showing.

It is amusing but I hate what she was trying to do.

Pity they cropped out the somewhat ironic wording on her trouser leg. The Daily Star didn't.

Not too sure whether this should go into the "amuse" or "annoy" category but? Here goes...
I was despatched to a branch local major supermarket today to buy an urgently needed tin of salmon (because the old girl finds these days that fish oils help her creaking aging joints - and before anyone launches in I'm talking about our hound, not the memsahib )

Anyhow, thanks to one of those silly and deliberately confusing tricks they do these days a 400gm can was actually 30p cheaper than a 200gm tin of identically branded one of the same product, strategically(?) placed right next to it -both on the very bottom shelf where the price labels are almost impossible to even see.

Perhaps one of our economics-minded experts can explain the basic logic of this (apart from blatant price grifting)

Still, at least the dear old girl will be generously satisfied tonight. (Again, the hound!)
