Enjoy a Merseyside derby (1962), where both teams are wearing identical colours - in black and white! Everton are in the long sleeves, commentator Alan Weeks helpfully informs us. (Click "Watch on YouTube").

A daft fella to be on the pitch with Leeds United in that era.

1985 FA Cup Semi-Final Liverpool v Man U at Goodison Park.
A different time. There was always something a bit special about a Semi Final at a neutral venue.
Imagine the frenzied atmosphere at Goodison that afternoon.

A good article from July 2017 about the time Don Revie was the England manager.
It must have been a wrench for Revie to leave his beloved Leeds players. All of us old enough to remember will recall the incredulity when Brian Clough was given the Leeds job.
A shame Revie did not stay at Leeds & Clough got the England job(he applied iirc)The latter was never going to happen of course despite Clough winning the League Title with Derby only a couple of years before.

They were interesting days.

21st January 1987.

Liverpool defender Jim Beglin lying prone with a broken leg after a challenge from Everton’s Gary Steven.
In those days the ground on field medical assistance would have been the ‘Trainer’ in this case Roy Evans assisted by Coach Ronnie Moran because it was serious.
A image of the era for on field injuries.

Sunday 8th April 1990.

The FA Cup Semi-Finals are televised live for the first time. This was on the back in the alteration of planning using the traditional Saturday following the tragedy at Hillsborough the previous year.

Both games on BBC1 back to back. First up was Crystal Palace v Liverpool at Villa Park (4-3 aet)
Then Man U v Oldham at Maine Rd (3-3 aet)

A great spectacle of live TV football.

That Palace result was a big shock after they got beat 9-0 at Anfield earlier in the season.

11th April 1970.

FA Cup Final. The first final that I was interested in &
watched on TV..There was huge interest at my school with everyone talking about it, you were in the Chelsea or Leeds camp 😁

The Horse of the Year Show a few days before was the reason for the disgrace of a pitch. Wembley in those days was not owned by the FA.

A earlier than usual Final for a number of reasons.
