Not from the Guardian. Only a fringe issue after all, not worth worrying about

BBC News - New UK plan to reach net zero goal faces criticism
The Government are constantly citing a stat that says the U.K. is currently leading the G7 in reducing our carbon footprint , it seems to be going unchallenged by everyone, if true doesn’t that blow a large hole in your contention that we’re lagging behind?

If i had to agree with you we would both be wrong
I especially liked that one of his first acts in his Bute House residence was a performative prayer session with his family members as they broke fast during Ramadan.
No female members of his family were allowed to join in of course. 🙄
Every one of those people he mentioned in his little rant should now be seeking legal advice !

Because if they only got their jobs because of their skin colour then thats wrong BUT if they all got their jobs and positions because of their talents and experience in the given jobs then he should be hauled before the courts.

Although insulating your home is often the most energy saving and single most effective thing that a homeowner can do to save the planet.
It is talked up way above many more important issues around carbon use by the population in this country.

It’s a great sound bite.

Agreed ! And importantly it doesn't involve any change in people's behaviour or lifestyle change , it's an easy win.

The problem with those type of government lead initiatives, is it will be a few companies taking the taxpayers for a ride. installing the stuff in peoples houses who can afford to do it themselves. If they don’t have the cash they should use some of the equity in the property to pay for it. The same should apply to Heat Pump installation which will be subsidised by a £5k Grant. All that will happen is installers/manufacturers just hike prices accordingly.
That scenario happened with the £5k government subsidy on electric vehicles.

Unfortunately we all ultimately pay for such nonsense

Yep. It is a bloody awful system. The problem is that all the alternatives tried are far worse

Agreed that's why we need to learn from Scandinavia who seem to do a better job of running their countries. They embrace capitalism but tend to have a better welfare system and a more equal society.

The best of both worlds!

That's probably some of the reasons why their nations consistently score highly in the happiest countries on earth.

It’s difficult to judge different countries overall carbon footprints & how successful they are at reducing it. It looks at best a guesstimate.
The only common measure is power generation, a snapshot every couple of hours.
