At least he realises that it's an issue that needs to be take seriously. And that Ed Milliband will be leading on it rather than, er, Grant Shapps...
Easier to lead on an issue when you’re in opposition and don’t have to make any of the difficult choices it has to be said.
It’s also probably a tad unfair also to use the pandemic period as part of the metric to judge the UK’s performance on carbon emissions.

Yes, this will increase our GDP by 0.08% meaning that the reduction of GDP as a result of Brexit is now only 3.92% rather than 4%. Huzzah!

And a) we have trade deals with some of these countries already b) if it's for an increase in trade of manufactured goods how does trucking stuff half way across the world help the climate crisis and c) if it's for an increase in services (financials, insurance etc.) how does this trade assist in the regeneration of Rotherham and Burnley?

"Turbo charge" - I mean, seriously, wtf?

Membership of this international trade bloc didn’t have a referendum, did it ? The will of the people tested ?

The international court ISDS for any dispute resolution is a ceding of sovereignty, where is the outrage ?

I refer you post 49569, opening paragraph.

Sauce https://www.carbonbrief.org/analysis-uk-is-now-halfway-to-meeting-its-net-zero-emissions-target/#:~:text=The UK's greenhouse gas emissions,-zero” emissions by 2050.

Which said: "The milestone was reached after a record-breaking 11% fall in greenhouse gas emissions in 2020, largely due to the coronavirus pandemic."

My metric began in 1990, you were bemoaning a 4% rise between 2020 and 2021, a very short period heavily influenced by the pandemic and lockdowns. Emissions fell 3.4% in 2022 BTW.
We’re doing OK. 👍

Ah, usual Remaniac fare from our declinist sneerer. Damned if they don't do trade deals, damned if they do. Of course he's just smarting over yesterdays news that the UK has continued to avoid a recession. No jubilation chez art this week, so now he just kicking the cat, bless.
