The long hot summer. My last school summer holidays.

The West Indies starting their dominance over England for a long time that Summer. Viv Richards in his pomp with a couple of double tons & very nearly a triple at The Oval. He missed the Lords Test but still knocked over 800 runs in 4 Tests.
Rain at Lords on the Saturday. No play in front of a full house with the gates shut at 10:40.
Probably the only time it rained in 3 months !

It was!
At the Reading Festival it started about 5pm on the Bank Holiday Saturday - just as Manfred Mann's Earth Band came on stage.
By the time we got back to Exeter on the Monday it had rained so much that the cellar at the old Pack Horse Inn had flooded. Bottled beer only that day.
