A Touch of Class the first episode of Fawlty Towers is broadcast on BBC2 at 9pm.
Michael Gwynn(1916-76) memorably played ‘Lord Melbury’. Gwynn was cast in many Hammer Horror films in the late 1960s. He played Hermes in Jason & the Arganorts((1963) & appeared in Dunkirk(1958) A couple of good films by anyone’s measure.
Also in this episode was Robin Ellis cast as DC Danny Brown. Ellis is better known as Captain Poldark in the series Poldark which was broadcast on BBC1 the following month.

That’s odd. I thought Gourmet Night was the first episode

On checking my memory is defective :(

I thought Michael Gwynn was also very good as Lt Col Bromley-Pickering in The Virgin Soldiers

David McCallum is 90 today. Remembered for TV series The Man from U.N.C.L.E, Colditz, Sapphire & Steel in the 1960s & 70s. More recently he has been in the CBS production NCIS since 2003.
His career before TV included films.A Night to Remember(1957) & The Great Escape(1963) another which is set in post war Liverpool about a gang on a tenement estate(filmed in Gerard’s Garden) is Violent Playground(1958) it’s been shown on TPTV, worth checking out when it’s broadcast again.

A good evenings viewing on BBC1. The series Mission Impossible, then police drama, Softly Softly Task Force.
A advert for a Calor Gas Super-Sur. Good for a bit of condensation & a little CO poisoning if they were working in small rooms.
