Re: Dave Allen - one of my all-time favourite comedians - again I've got a couple of DVDs of his stuff. I remember his series in the early 90s (only monologues, no sketches) where at one point in every show I'd be crying with laughter. His sketches were a bit hit and miss, but my favourite two were the one with the rival Catholic funeral processions, and the one where the drunk driver runs over the grim reaper.
Agree with the hit and miss quality of the sketches.
This is still one of my favourites

My memories of the Wrestling on World of Sport in the early 1970s, it was on late afternoon with what appeared to be a lot of baying grannies in the front row..If a unpopular Wrestler was thrown out of the ring he would invariably be battered by a load of handbags 🤣🤣

27th September 1977.

Dave Allen at Large ran for 5 series(33 episodes) between 1971-79 the first couple of series were on BBC2.
A great relaxed comedy style sat in a leather chair smoking a fag, with what appeared to be whiskey in a glass beside him.
Some funny satirical sketches featuring the Catholic Church and some of the hypocrisy surrounding religion, which was rarely aired in those days.

Freudian slip? lolz

I still remember them like they were yesterday. Being a nipper, I can't say I understood them. I was reminded of an episode this weekend past as I watched my son's footy team get battered 10 bloody nil.

One of the best of the half hour Fools & Horses imo, Video Nasty..Micky Pearce borrows a video camera that Rodney has been loaned to make a community film 🤣
Patrick Murray’s only appearance in the 5th series. His next appearance was in the Dates Christmas episode broadcast in 1988.

A load of stage managed fixed rubbish really.

I recall one "match" where a participant went off script and won 2-0. There was always an equaliser. Kent Walton was perplexed.
