A new drama series on BBC1. Shoestring had no opposition on TV, due to the ongoing ITV Strike thus having mega viewing figures for the first few episodes.
Set in Bristol, which was a bit of a novelty in those days. Ran for two series(21 episodes)

A good series was Shoestring, Like you say set in Bristol instead of the usual London or Manchester, Also starring Liz Crowther, Daughter of the late entertainer Leslie Crowther and married to Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy (RIP) fame, She was in quite a few things during this time.

In RaWZ we trust....Amen.
Toyah Wilcox then still fairly unknown, had a part in a early episode of Shoestring singing in a nightclub. She had recently released her debut album, ‘Sheep Farming In Barnet’ which was fairly good. Still got my copy somewhere.

Can't remember who the Radio Station manager was, I'm sure he was one of those actors who was in quite a few TV shows but never can remember his name?

You'll find her in there somewhere:

My god, she hasn't changed! And there's Christopher Biggins and the bloke from Auf Widershen Pet. Star studded or what!?!

Michael Medwin(1923- 2020) played Don Scratchly the station manager.

Some of the early episodes pulled in 18-20m viewers.
Must have been a dream for the BBC producers to broadcast a new series, when ITV were well into the 2nd month of the strike with no end in sight.

Rough Justice was a interesting programme looking at campaigns around potential miscarriages of justice.
It was broadcasted between 1982-2007 featuring some well known campaigns, I remember the paper boy Carl Bridgwater murder in 1978 was one with the subsequent convictions of 4 men being investigated in the 1990s.

Ironically the last programme looked at a convicted murderer Simon Hall who had a huge campaign by the good & the great to protest his innocence only for the Hall to admit his guilt eventually.
