Yes, I know it's a bandwagon but bravo Emma R! Even a grumpy old curmudgeon (TM Al) like me has been somewhat warmed by not just the achievements but also the warm enjoyment and obvious youthful enthusiasm being shown by this virtual "beginner".
In this world of "big money sport" it's been refreshing to see someone literally burst through from nowhere. And to get there waving the British flag (so rarely noted for true top level tennis over the decades) is truly heartwarming.
Even to get right through the qualifiers to the final (without even dropping a set) is historic. To win the whole bleddy thing (should it happen) would be truly epic.
And at least it would get dear old McGrumpy off the back (and front) pages for a while!
