This is a difficult one to comment on, because of course we all wish him well and hope it's the right appointment. And if we have doubts, then we really want to be wrong.

But I think it's far too simplistic to just say "There's a promotion on the CV". It's also about behaviour and character. The record there is not so encouraging. But as others have said, let's hope he has learned and matured from his failures, as all successful managers do. Even Gerry Francis!

I think the fact he was sacked by Partick 6 games into his second Scottish championship season speaks for itself.

Excellent interview. Nothing groundbreaking (as you'd expect) but seems well balanced and thought through. Particularly impressed by the "I've watched all Exeter's games this year so feel I know the squad already" - fair play. Equally pleasing to then hear him talk about "actually getting to know them and what makes them tick".
