I miss Setanta....
This tournament is anyones. All the teams blow hot and cold , all the winner needs to do it is a bit of consistency. So yes , I could see that happening if we were on the crest of a wave having beaten France.
Argentina will be tired too , that game will have taken it out of them.
I’ll believe if we get by France.
To be honest, a final between Messi and Ronaldo would be Divine poetry, with the two greatest players of the time meeting on The Mountain Top, so to say. I still don't believe it, though!

That's now the impossible dream as both Messi and Ronaldo would be needing zimmer frames in 2026.

I’ve got Argentina is the sweepstake at work, I’m now a big Argentina fan who wants them to win the world cup.
Ugh. I think I'll start an "Anyone but Argentina" thread.
If only we could take penalties...

I lost any respect for Messi last night. His tantrum against Weghorst after the game was pathetic.

What a tournament Morocco are having.
They’re unbeaten in their 5 World Cup matches to date, which include a draw against Croatia and wins against Belgium, Spain and now Portugal.
Incredibly they haven’t conceded any goals in those 4 games.
The only goal they have let in so far was ironically in their win over Canada.
Perhaps we should look into signing a couple of Moroccans next month!

That’s quite a set of results. Maybe just have a little difficulty in putting a game to bed perhaps which might just do for them against France ( or England !). Not underrating them but my guts tell me the winner of the game tonight will go all the way.

Is this England matchday thread now?

Hope so because I'm going to miss most of it due to a 'mare of a train journey home.

We’ve only beaten Senegal, Wales and Iran, not sure why the media think we’ve got a chance.
