Help. Are there any landscape gardeners/weed killers on here? The landscape gardener I'm using has just informed me he will pop round late afternoon tomorrow to start laying my patio.

The only issue is since I've been deployed, the weeds have grown considerably. I'm trying to see if, by some miracle, there is anyone available tomorrow who can rotovate the end of my garden where the patio is going.

Any advice/help will be greatly appreciated.

If he’s a pro landscaper then he’ll dig out the topsoil to a suitable depth eg 100mm removing weeds at the same time, I’d have thunk.

I've laid more patios than Fred West and if your gardener has anything about him he'll dig down 200mm, fill with sand or possibly sand then cement and then lay the patio.

Make sure he puts in a polypropylene underlay sheet in the sub-base.

And as mentioned you need coarse sand and a decent drainage system under the slabs.

Strangely enough a touch more muscle and a lot more gut, and that photo could be me!

I did use to lay patios for work, so I do know a bit about it.
