Maxted or Ward

Pub League goalkeeping by Maxted for the second in particular. He should have been position on the spot instead of rooted in the six yard box. The first wasn't a great deal better.
As to the point of the thread......... Ward all day long and twice on Sundays. Maxted can make some camera saves but Wardy's all round game is so much more and better than that.

Noticeable from the highlights that, Collins for the first and Sweeney for the second, looked at the danger man who ultimately scored, were aware of the danger, and then ignored them and left them to run on to the ball to score.

I'll buck the trend and go Maxted. Think he's the better all round keeper, just. Ward, despite his height, can't deal with crosses, and his kicking is poor.

I think that a big issue though is the continued lack of a dedicated goalkeeping coach. Ward's potential is clearly higher, but without a dedicated coach there's no-one to develop the technical aspects of his game (kicking, dealing with the high ball, set position) - which is where he struggles in my opinion.

The only reason is Maxted was fit 10days earlier than Ward.
Lewis was first choice when the season started.
