My reading of that exchange was that, after the question 'are you confident...?' GC first looked hesitant .....and then said 'yes'

I read that as him thinking 'I'm hoping for two, I can't guarantee it, and indeed nobody can be sure. But its better to say 'yes, I'm confident' - which isn't saying I'm certain - than not to say yes, which would cause potentially unnecessary dismay'

(Or perhaps I'm overthinking this!)

Or it could have been a “we’ve just been talking about this off air Craig, and you know exactly who’s coming in, but I’ve just remembered we need to be coy about this”

GC asked me to take a look at some chap called Griezman - he is meant to be quite good. Also if a guy called Mbappe is seen at the Bernebau to make him aware of our interest before he signs for Real - not convinced he would pass the team ethic test though

I just googled "Exeter City Mbappe" and this post was about 10th on the list. Shows how easy it is to get a rumour going
