I'm not sure that a Ryan Bowman type is needed myself. Nombe was an upgrade on Bowman based on players of a similar profile - run the channels, work the oppositions back line, contribute with some goals. Whilst they are admirable qualities I'm not sure in this set up it's necessary.

I think the number 9 GC wants is someone with a physical presence but I don't think there's the requirement to chase the ball down in wide areas. Good football brain, the strength to hold the ball up and bring the 10s into the game and an ability to score goals is what's needed most. Easier said than done.
So, as I said, a "Ryan Bowman type" then - physical presence who doesnt need to run the channels, holds the ball up and can chip in with goals...... Not sure Nombe and Bowman were anything like the same "type" so Nombe wasnt an upgrade on Bowman, simply a different type player

No, as I said, not a Ryan Bowman 'type'. Bowman was there to pester the hell out of the opposition's back line and chase the ball into the corners. Nombe did similar work. It was required for MT's style of football.

Muskwe is the profile of striker GC wants - phyical, stays central.

As the old proverb reminds us,

"a player on the pitch is worth two in the treatment room"

If he came down on the train the only central he should have stayed at was the station...
