I knew both of those facts but I thought I’d let him think he was right for a little longer.
In looking up the origin of FGR, I was pleased to learn that they once merged with a team called Nailsworth Thursday.

Yes and I think they were formed the day after Sheffield Wednesday were created.
Anyway, back to Port Vale!

So does that mean there's an area of Merseyside called Tranmere? What about Forest Green?
Tranmere are no longer a member of the "92 Club".

Whoops, hoisted by my own pedantic petard, as you were ! 🤬

Arsenal is short for Woolwich Arsenal so not sure they count either.

Not strictly speaking.

You're correct in that they were Woolwich Arsenal for a while but they were Royal Arsenal before that and dropped the Woolwich bit to become The Arsenal when they moved to North London.

Never done this before
I think FGR played in Forest Green before they moved to the top of the hill.
Forest Green is the part of Nailsworth up that hill.
