That could well turn out to be a superb bit of business for them. They signed Joe Rafferty as well, the other relative surprise on our retained list. Add that to the other business they've done (and Evans' appointment - he may be a toe-rag, but he's got a very good record in the lower leagues) - and they look likely contenders already.

Evans has signed 5 players whilst everyone else is on holiday. Not everyone's cup of tea, but you have to admire his workrate

If we’re able to look at anyone from Luton’s list of released players I’d be inclined to favour Fred Onyedinma.
Good experience at 27 with almost 350 career appearances including plenty in the Championship and League 1.
He even had 8 matches for Luton in the Premier League last season before being loaned to Rotherham.
He’s a versatile left sided player and I’d say an ideal replacement for Mitchell, if he doesn’t re-sign.
Onyedinma played in the Prem after his loan spell at Rotherham, predominantly at right wing back. There is no chance we are going to be able to sign him.

Very good left peg. Not sure he's a similar type of player to Carroll though..
