I would probably agree with that view, it's obviously great news for him but just adds more pressure and attention on him leading up to his exams. He's clearly decided he wants to play for Wales so what's the rush in naming him in a squad now? There is absolutely no chance that England could potentially 'steal' him in the near future and if Coleman really thinks it's necessary to call him up so soon he could have waited until September which surely would have been better for him.

Those with longer memories will remember the last City player to get a Welsh call up. It won't be difficult for Ampadu's luck to be rather better than Alan Beer's :(

Although five uncapped players have made the 23 man squad for their match against Serbia, Ethan's been released - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40160923

Has he finished his GCSE's yet?

Interview with Tis (on DevonLive/E&E?) last week suggested that Ethan could only join the Wales squad because last week was half term and that he's back to school and exams now.

So the Talksport theory (that he was only selected in the 26 so that they could get him a few minutes in a competitive match thereby committing him to Wales) bites the dust?

Despite his success in the Euros, Chris Coleman is clearly a fool when it comes to judging young players. :p

If they think he's going to be an international level player in the future, doesn't hurt for him to get as much experience of being around the setup now so that he's used to it when he's called up properly later on.

Because of his potential we would have to pay him well to remain with us even as a trainee.

Don't think you've got anything to be concerned about there NR . If I've read it correctly then we'll get much the same next season out of Ethan as we had this
