I loved hearing the FAC draw on the radio in those days..Recall the excitement on our coach when we were drawn out & then the silence until the name of the famous Wolverhampton Wanderers was announced,cue bedlam & cheering.

A bit different to the TV programmes of FAC draws these days with its hype & nonsense.

After reading about FA Cup exploits on FB,I cast my mind back to the few times the Grecians have made the 3rd Round in my 50 years of watching since 1970/71.

1978,1981,1986,1990,1992,1994,2003,2005,2016,
2018...Have I missed any years ?

If correct,that is a average of the 3rd round every 5 seasons.
It certainly does not seem that regular !

Yes..Not a great record there..From memory Waltham & Hersham(1972) Alvechurch(1973) Maidstone(1978 & 1984) Enfield (1985) Bognor(1988)Dagenham(2001) Curzon(2008) Warrington(2014)

Any others ?

Slightly better ratio if there are no others,but only just !!

99/00 season we took Everton to a replay at Goodison after Stuart Naylor/Jason Matthews heroics. It was the season we had Gary Alexander and the third round was in December . It was absolutely freezing at the replay and we got done late on by Nicky Barmby.

I can't really remember. It was the season Man Utd didn't play. Something to do with the Euro's maybe?
