You could say that almost almost any media. It doesn't make it okay.I suspect the reason for that is that the Qatari government provide a lot of Al Jazeera's funding (in exchange for them abiding by stringent editorial 'guidelines' no doubt) and Israel is rather unhappy that Doha hosts Hamas's senior leadership.
Unfortunately, it seems this may be a game being played by Hamas because Israeli officials are claiming that the deal that Hamas have just announced they have agreed to is not the same deal that Israel previously announced they accepted. In other words it has been unilaterally amended by Hamas and Hamas have rushed to announce that their amended version is 'agreed'. The Israeli officials have not said that Israel won't accept the Hamas alterations; just that they need time to study them before commenting further.Apparently a Gaza ceasefire has just been agreed:
Good news if the reporting is accurate which it seems to be.
BBC reporting suggests that the Israelis were blindsided by Hamas acceptance. ..."Bowen: Tough choices for Netanyahu after Hamas upends expectations" ...Unfortunately, it seems this may be a game being played by Hamas because Israeli officials are claiming that the deal that Hamas have just announced they have agreed to is not the same deal that Israel previously announced they accepted. The original Hamas statement last night implied that the terms of a ceasefire had been agreed and indeed that statement then prompted celebrations in Gaza by people believing that a ceasefire had been agreed. It then rapidly materialised that Hamas did not mean that they had agreed to the proposal that Israel had already agreed to but instead that proposal with various modifications that Israel had not agreed to. Hard to say whether Hamas were deliberately being disingenuous but the basic point is that their initial statement prompted premature celebrations by people believing that a truce had been agreed when one hadn't been agreed.BBC reporting suggests that the Israelis were blindsided by Hamas acceptance. ..."Bowen: Tough choices for Netanyahu after Hamas upends expectations" ...
You represent this (qualified by "seems" and "may") as "a game being played by Hamas". Not a game being played by the State of Israel ?
That had me laughing out loud. Needed a bit of light hearted relief, so cheers pal!Hard to say whether Hamas were deliberately being disingenuous
