I must've missed it but Torben Ulrich passed the other day at 95.

He was quite the character. A tennis professional, he represented Norway at the Davies Cup. He was also a very talented musician, playing clarinet in various trad jazz ensembles, some of them releasing records.

He moved to America before fathering a son Lars. Lars, in turn, went on to become the Ringo Starr of thrash metal before wanting to sue the world because of digitalism.

Max Boyce's "Hymns and Arias" mentioned a happy Welsh fan who "swapped five photos of his wife for one of Barry John".

RIP, Barry. Thanks for New Zealand in 1971.

Ian Lavender, has passed away aged 77. Remembered fondly for his portrayal of Private Pike ("Don't tell him"), the last survivor of the main cast from Dad's Army. RIP.

Welsh fan was Will.

“….So it's down to Soho for the night
To the girls with the shiny beads;
To the funny men with lipstick on
With evil minds and deeds
One said to Will from a doorway dark
Damn, she didn't have much on
But Will knew what she wanted
Aye... his photo of Barry John !

'Cos she was singing hymns and arias
'Land of my Fathers', 'Ar hyd y nos'”
