Sadly it was the two sets of fans rather then the venue. If Luton had beaten Blackpool do you not think they would have completely sold out? They'd have taken 40'000 plus given the chance. If it was a Exeter V Argyle play off final that also would have been a sell out! Sadly us and Blackpool wasn't. Just the way it is

It's all a bit over rated in my opinion..It's a iconic area & the rebuild is very nice & customer friendly but it does not give me the hair standing on neck moment that I used to get when exiting Wembley Park Underground & seeing the old twin towers.

The pricing is rediculous to watch a couple of 4th Division teams slug it out for the last promotion spot for the also rans, but as already posted earlier, the FA are in serious hock to the German banks since the rebuild.
That's probably where the bigger issue is regards to getting an atmosphere and filling the ground is. I doubt even with a reduced price City and Blackpool would have filled Wembley but I reckon if the prices had been reduced by a three quid there would have been enough extra bodies coming from both sides to have made up the same take as yesterday. If not directly in gate money, it would have been made up in the extras such as food and merchandising.

I'm definitely for Wembley. For a lot of players it will likely be their only chance to play a competitive game in the National Stadium so I would go with it just on that level alone. Several have mentioned being able to fill a greater percentage at a smaller stadium but I just don't buy that idea. Seems to me that a lot of extra people attend because it is at Wembley. Call them what you will,it all adds to the share the club get at the end. I don't buy at all the notion either that they spoil the atmosphere. Those who like to sing and chant will make just as much noise with occasional people in attendance as they would if they were on their own. Someone also mentioned roads etc. It's in London for chrissake where driving is difficult at the best of times. The journey from Waterloo to the stadium by tube took me less than 40 minutes and was as easy as pie.
The bottom line for me is that the atmosphere followed what was happening on the pitch. Had we gone on in the second half and scored a few good goals to win the game we would not now be disparaging the Wembley atmosphere because it would have been totally electric for us.

.
Sorry I just expect better infrastructure for a national stadium which cost nearly £800mil to build. Whilst I'm very happy for you and your pleasant journey on the rail-line, I explicitly stated I 'cannot comment on the rail service' so that's completely irrelevant to my point.

I've been to quite a few Derby County games at Pride Park including the Forest one. Believe me, if there were half of it filled with Exeter fans and half of it filled with Blackpool fans for a sell out play off final the atmosphere would be electric. It's cheaper, not a ball ache to get to, easier to park, train station 5 minutes away and overall would be a superb day out. Wembley is over rated.
What a load of rubbish. Wembley's cheap - we charged more to see Liverpool at SJP than Wembley did yesterday - a piece of cake to get to, easy to find parking, the tube's a couple of hundred yards away and IS a superb day out. Pride Park doesn't even warrant a rating.

Do you genuinely think people would be excited about going to a final there - we'd be lucky to take 10k.

But the infra structure put in place for the National Stadium WAS the connecting rail service and the station that serves it. I know you said you couldn't comment on this but that doesn't make it irrelevant to a criticism of the stadium infra structure.

OP is clearly in the minority
Nah I'm not opposed to Wembley, just heard a couple talking about it on the train back yesterday and thought it was worth a debate.

Don't get me wrong it's a great day out and must be incredible with a big crowd, but didn't feel as special with 3/4 of seats unoccupied. That said, it was unfortunate we came up against Blackpool and not Luton.

Surely most people's main complaint with Wembley yesterday is that we lost? I doubt the moans about the atmosphere would have arisen had WE scored in the 2nd and 61st minute, rather than Blackpool.

I seem to remember the Cambridge game in 2008 being ok for atmosphere, especially at the end!!

Q. Would you like your club to play at probably the most prestigious football stadium in the world?
A. No.

WTF?
