A Whiter Shade of Pale was another example back in its day.
Did anyone including the writers ever work out what Whiter Shade of Pale was about though? Not like a song about obsession and stalking!

Going by the comments there is a large effort to read something into the lyrics where Keith Reid didn't have any real intention...genius 🙂.
