Judging by comments on this thread, everyone seems to think that Cox signing an extension is good news. For Sonny to sign, he would have to buy-into what Caldwell is trying to do; his style, approach and tactics. The only alternative theory is that he has no other options. But if he didn't think he was progressing at Exeter City, most players would probably not be signing a contract now and would wait to see what happens in the summer.
Another alternative theory is that this gives him a hefty pay rise. And, security for 2.5 years (against the risk of suffering a Demetri Mitchell/Ryan Trevitt type of injury before the end of this season) Or that his choice is pragmatic rather than idealistic. Still good news and still positive, but it doesn't mean that Sonny is persuaded that being played up front on his own is the best way forward.

Caldwell was criticised over the departure of Jack Sparkes and allegedly the same is about to happen with Harry Kite. So, in turn, isn't it only right to praise him when one of our academy products does want to stay.
I haven’t got a problem with GC being attributed as part of the team that convinced Sonny to sign

Harris and Boyo trying to weakly point score less so

Indeed, he’s also been pretty young still to sticking with the club he’s been at for years and years could well make sense to him

It’s all speculative

Anyway praise be Gary Caldwell

Do you honestly believe he would have signed if he didn't like GCs approach, style and methods?

Exactly, a 2.5 year deal, he can stay living at home and will now be on good money for his age...

Or, he turns down a deal in the hope something better comes along in the summer and it might not, there is every chance he'd end up somewhere like Harrogate, miles from home on less money at a lower level.

I don't see how he can like a method that prevents him from scoring goals...

I was just being sarcastic but whatever.
As for Jack, people could understand why Jack left.......... until he started performing for Portsmouth and then all of a sudden Caldwell was to blame.

And then went quiet again when Jack went back to getting a few minutes off the bench.

Sonny wouldn't have struggled to find another club and I would imagine would have still been able to demand a half decent wage in either L1 or L2 given the amount of press he's had this season, his age and the fact that there have been a decent amount of clubs keeping tabs on his contract situation.

Positive news from the club and hopefully Cheick will follow as the next priority.
