I know that HMRC is crap* but I rather think the Club hasn’t tried nearly hard enough to make contact and sort out a payment plan.

*A letter I sent in October 2020 took HMRC until March 2023 to answer. Feckin’ dire.

No because when you cannot pay a tax bill you don’t write in but phone and keep doing so if you get long delays as is common. If they have had a winding up order they would have had many written warnings.
