Looks now like I might have been right first time. Heavy rain all morning, showers this afternoon, dry till 8 then wet again! Could be a mudbath!

This suggests rain from about now till mid late afternoon and then dry. Someone reported seeing the pitch on bbc earlier and thought it didn't look too bad. Also the video on another thread from last qualifying round made it look reasonable surface as well.
