If there is no money available whatsoever then the current ownership model has reached the end of it's course. Also shows the whole Project 6000 concept dreamt up 12/18 months ago was a complete load of rubbish and as a club we need to quickly re-evaluate how we can increase income but the ownership situation is a another conversation for another thread.

But is it any wonder that MT has left after the frustration he showed during the summer and the perceived lack of backing? Let's just appoint from within because it's the easy & cheap option, wave the white flag this season and go back to L2 and enjoy our shiny new training ground building hoping we can sell someone for a couple million so we can continue patting each other on the back for a great job for a couple years...
You do realise you’re not allowed to express that opinion. You’ll quickly be shot down and told it’s all rubbish.

We keep going around in circles on the ownership model. I can only assume that there are no multi-millionaire Exeter City supporters, prepared to throw money at the Club, with no financial return because if there were, presumably, we would have heard from them by now.

If anyone knows of such a person, perhaps they need to introduce them to the Club and Trust Chair as soon as possible.

If they aren't around, we have to stay with the model we have and deal with the effect that has on budgets and Club growth.

You should try football manager if this is the flight of fancy you'd like to see. The 2023 version is out soon.

Be funny if it were the Matt Taylor ex Walsall manager Rotherham were appointing and we're all getting our knickers in a twist over nothing. 😀

Don't worry I'll be buying FM when it comes out in November (y)

Not particularly realistic though as ECFC usually go through a proper recruitment process when MT leaves on that game rather than just next man up and continue!

I don't think it's a case of the next man up, it's more of developing players and coaches in our ecosystem, and they are best placed to take that further.

There may well be a time when it's better to look outside, and this may be it, but we are what we are. Until someone steps forwards to make an offer to buy the club, the discussion is nothing but hot air. I'm not wedded to the trust, but I'm not about to be part of a movement handing the club over to any old Del Boy just because "this model is getting us nowhere fast".

Why are people internally best placed to take us and our structure further forward?

Surely any business worth it's salt should be exploring all options both internally or externally before coming to a conclusion rather than just jumping to appoint the only person left in the existing structure because we want continuity. Isn't that what a proper interview process is for? To understand what an individual can bring to assist the whole business in achieving it's goals.

I know for a fact that there was a formal interview/presentation process for the Head of Academy Coaching role that interviewed numerous candidates so why should the first team manager's role (arguably the most important role at the club) be any different?

We haven't appointed a manager in L1/Div 3 for over 30 years so surely we should be taking our time to make sure we get the right person in?
