This isn't a slight on what went on before, we were what we were and always looked to improve, but it shows how much more professional the club has become in the last 18 months or so and how much of that has been driven by GC challenging the club. We were a good L2 club, now we are looking to be not only a good L1 club but also push on. In terms of fitness, preparation, analysis, detail, recruitment, everything is being dialled up. You can see why the new training ground complex is so important and why the club should be commended for getting this done. It would be difficult for GC and the staff to do this without it.

It does go to show that while you might want the football on the pitch to look simple, the work to get there is anything but these days. Nothing stands still and the days of a bit of running, weights and a few five a sides doing you for the week are long gone in the professional game whether we like it or not.

What we have seen with some of the interviews recently also shows how strong a dressing room it is and that culture has been pretty good for a long time, probably started by Eamo and carried on to varying degrees since. GC has certainly bought into this and seems to have driven it on again. As always, winning doesn't half help bring a connection with the fans. Having to start the squad from very little with so many new faces was also always going to take time to make those connections strong again. It is showing signs of being forged though and even with a few favourites leaving there feels a lot to carry forward with again.

Question marks over Mr Hawker's comments on that video then (although also question marks on where The Athletic got those numbers as it's not been attributed to GC or anyone at the club)
