Sorry Ant that just smacks of bluster.
We have had precious few managers who have a record of keeping us in the third tier, so it stands to reason that should GC manage to do that he has to be talked about as one of our best.
The circumstances are very different for Caldwell to those who went before him. He had a much better chance of success, which is partly why the **** poor run was so infuriating.

His “better chance of success” being what specifically?

Your reality maybe.
No - it's the reality that football is dominated by money these days.

Well, how often has the club told us in the last 12 months how amazing our new training ground facilities are? How we have no debt? How our budget this January is unprecedented? Etc etc

Tisdale kept us in L1 for two seasons. Ball did likewise. Neither would have had the above.

However, precious few managers have had the opportunity to keep us in the third tier so some of our managers in L2 may have fared well if they had the opportunity to try in L1 perhaps

"the football we want to play" was how Caldwell described Saturday's performance. Which suggests that the issue was not a lack of will, but rather one of (team) ability.
We now have players back in the squad with pace
Carroll pulled all the strings on Saturday and was noticeable when he and Cole came off they got control of midfield
Aitcheson was head and shoulders the best player on the pitch
Sweeney as captain instead of Aimless
Just think if we had Mitchell as well

Much debate on here of late about what ‘unprecedented budget’ actually means, you can’t spend no debt and the lure of a new training ground can only take you so far.
The challenge of keeping us in LG1 transcends the factors you cite IMO.

Different game now, far bigger gap between the haves and the have nots.

It's FCAT that financially we've never been so healthy but I really can't to argue the toss about it.
