well that as a frustrating night!

First half played some nice football and were well in control. the goal as a bonus and we awaited the introducton of some fire power second half to get that "vital second goal". Yeovil weren't even in it and mad two early subs to try and contain us.

So onto the second half and predictably the team remained the same before we thought the subs were introduced on the hour mark to kill off the game. The hour mark came and went and as our players tired and we began to be pushed back all eyes were on Tis and the subs. It got worse and I think everybody could see that unless we changed things round and gave our team a forward outlet then we would concede. Norwood had run himself out for the cause and Stewart was not capable of matching their tall central defence. When it came the suicide ball across the box to Jones who did quite well just to get a boot on it, unfortunately it scewed to one of their players who crashed it into the net.

Eventually the subs came but it was too late and though Logan and Mcallister did work to fashion some half chances any player capable of getting the ball across to them was totally f*cked by then and they couldn't do it alone.

I will be very interested why Tis stood like a rabbit caught in the headlights when it was so obvious that we needed to freshen things up and take the game to a poor Yeovil side that must have been amazed to be still in the game come the end.

I know it's an unpopular view to have but I'd have picked Steve Tully as MOTM tonight, thought he was immense.

So I guess I'm alone in thinking Norwood was less than impressive tonight? Seemed to me that whenever he got the ball he didn't have a clue about what to do with it, or how to get past his man. It looked to me as though every time he had the ball it ended up with the opposition.

I love his energy and enthusiasm, but IMO he looked way out of his depth tonight and personally I can't wait for Stansfield to get back in the side - at least he knows how to hold it up and bring others into play. And I feel a bit sorry for Norwood too - he's working hard and trying his best, so it's a bit harsh having to be chucked in at the deep end when he looks about half a season at least away from even a spot on the bench let alone starting.

Hopefully he'll get there in the end - I suspect he was bought here as one for the future rather than one for now - as he looks a definite prospect, it's just I think it's too early for him right now.

No, I agree with you Ant. We are asking a lot of Norwood and we dont want to crush his belief before he has time to find his feet. I also cant wait until Stansfield is back, we are a much different proposition with him in the side, and I think his work ethic alone could well have carried us through tonight

Hit, nail & head spring to mind, definitely one for the future though.

It is asking a lot of the lad to lead the line on his own. At least on Saturday he had Marcus alongside him and even at Three Bridges in the youth team game when he got a couple, he was part of a 4-4-2.

Do we know what the news is on Stanno, and Watson even?

My first game of the season, and what a rollercoaster of a ride it was. To say I was excited by what I saw at first would be an understatement. I thought we looked very sharp, passed the ball well, decisively and accurately, while looking very calm and composed at the back. All in all, after 25 minutes I was a very happy lad impressed with the control we had over the game and not impressed at all with the opposition. I liked our movement. It seemed positively silky with everyone finding space. We created some good chances and I didn't feel worried that we hadn't converted anything further.
................................Then came the second half!!!
WTF HAPPENED? I mean, I know I was there but I can't explain it. Who the feck WAS that team because it sure as hell wasn't the one I was watching before. How does a side go from being full of confidence and energy to being nervous, spooked, leaden and panicked? Jesus, how frustrating was it all, to watch players suddenly turn into hoof merchants wanting only to get rid of the ball as quickly as possible anywhere!
As this complete turn about was developing in front of my eyes I was thinking "OK, so I guess now Tiz will bring on the magic duo". There was Logie and Mac out warming up. There was City inviting more and more pressure on themselves. One corner, two corners, three, four. Christ, we couldn't even get it out our own half could we? Still Logie and Mac warm up. It was one of those passages of play that you just know is going to end in fekkin disaster. You can see it coming. You can smell it coming. You can feel it in your guts and in your over squeezed sphincter. It was one of those times when, in basketball, you're glad to call a time out. WE COULD have called one with the 'double sub' and as every minute passed and the pressure cranked I was expecting it..........but...'goal'. Too fekkin late, moment gone, opportunity missed.
If someone can explain to me where the team that gladdened my heart in the first half disappeared to I would be very grateful because I have no fekkin idea. I just hope they come out for a full 90minutes next weekend.

Possibly because, the YT boss got stuck into his lads, and told them to close us down, and stop letting us pass it around them, and maybe give us a game ? Just a thought, like ?

I do agree though, we looked a very different team second half. Midfield did a no-show sadly.
