At long bleddy last! Great news, looking forward to it already - it will be great to have the Falcons back and on a decent track rather then the ploughed field we use to have. The new track should be a real racing circuit and with proper facilities too and a free bus service thrown in, 1,3,5,7 hear this roar........

I think the plan is to name the stadium after Colin Hill but Ivan said at the last meeting at the County Ground that he would be beck to ride the first four laps at the new place whenever it opened.

Got the lowdown from people who were at the meeting and it sounds good! Peter Oakes is to be co-promoter with Allan Trump and he may be Team Manager as well depending on his Cov obligations. The track will be built to FIM standards so, in theory at least, will be able to hold bigger meetings however with a cpacity of around the 3,000 mark thats not too likely. It will be around 285 metres long and banked (around 3 ft on the bends) and nice & wide too, built by Glyn Taylor (responsible for Somerset & Redcar - both great racing tracks). The track will be sunk 4 feet into the ground, the bottom of the terracing will actually be above the track and the top of the terracing will be 10 feet above the surface of the track so it should be a great view. The grandstand will be called the Colin Hill stand and there will be 4 Executive boxes, 1 of which is to be named after Tony Sandford. Oh, and there has to be a bike rack for anyone wishing to cycle to the place - wether there will also be an oxygen tent for anyone who actually does is not clear.

3000 is more than adequate - rarely did the Falcons come close to needing that sort of capacity. However, as long as the foundations and design is such that it can be added to later if necessary then there's no real problem.

You obviously did not attend many matches as they often got crowds of around 3,000 and in the days of Mauger and Autrey 5,000+
